We’re dubbing this the summer of the body and have made a commitment to get into great shape (ok, better shape) by the time the first showers hit the city. In our quest to find workouts that work, we came across some great options. Here is our pick of 5 you must try.

CrossFitOm

Introduced to the city by Shivoham (formerly known asDheepesh Bhatt), this intense strength and conditioning trainingmakes you part of the elite CrossFit Athletes. Multiple reps, time limits, strength and high voltage energy are the main components of working out at the Box (not gym, mind you) and each Workout of the Day (WOD) has you competing against yourself and the others in the batch.  Joining this programme is like being initiated into a secret society with multiple acronyms and codes- AMRAP (As Many Reps As Possible) anyone?

Altitude Training System

Designed to originally train athletes, this unique workout is all about the chamber. The glass-enclosed room mimics the oxygen saturation of 4,000 meters above sea level as you sweat it out on the treadmill/elliptical or push yourself in the functional training programme.  All this in just 45 minutes.The benefits? Pilates

A mind and body workout started by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century, Pilates is effective and one of the safest workouts in town. Recommended by doctors as a rehabilitation tool post injuries, the workout is also responsible for PipaMiddleton’s awesome body at her sister’s wedding.  So don’t be fooled by the gentle pace of movements—it strengthens your core, improves lean muscle mass and muscle tone. Not the newest kid on the block, the ancient meditation technique has a bunch of loyalist who swear by it! BollybicsTM

If high intensity cardio is your thing, then it doesn’t get better than the specialised  Bollybicstm.   Started by Arts in Motion, this hour long class is conducted entirely on Bollywood music that ranges from ghazals(for the warm up), to classics and even current chart toppers. The dances are choreographed to give you aintenseaerobic workout while incorporating signature dance moves from the song.  Naturally, no two classes are the same. A great stress buster, the class also includes 10 minutes of toning.
