New year, new you? Don’t lie to yourself any longer. This year, take a different approach.
So you’ve bought some new fitness gear to motivate you to go to the gym every week, made a meal plan to eat healthier, and even created a schedule so you’ll stop procrastinating. But let’s be real – how long will you actually maintain those new year’s resolutions? Keep your goals simple and within reach by gaining some 2017 inspiration from StyleCracker!
1. BULLET JOURNALS
If you’re hoping to get organized this year, try out a new fad that’s been making its rounds on the internet. Bullet journals are easy to set up, and don’t even require one of those expensive 2017 planners. Check out their website to learn more.

It’s so much easier to stay organized in the digital age because we’ve got so many apps to monitor and control productivity. 3. OFF THE GRID HOURS
How many meals have you had where you didn’t check your Facebook or hear a WhatsApp notification? If 2016 is anything to judge by, the answer is probably not many. Try practicing “Off the Grid Hours” this year to change that; switch off your phone (or turn on silent mode) during breakfast, lunch, or dinner everyday to fully enjoy your meal and the company you’re sharing it with.
4. THOSE FEET WERE MEANT FOR WALKIN’
You’ve probably heard this before, but fitness truly is a lifestyle. You can only shed those extra calories by hitting the gym if you also change up your daily routine. So take the stairs, use public transport, and walk whenever possible. It’s good for you and the environment too!
5. GRATITUDE ENTRIES
Mindfulness is a really great way to be more aware of the things you’re blessed with. Practice gratitude everyday by writing down one thing you’re thankful for every night. Whether it’s something small like having a bed to cuddle into at night, or a big birthday surprise you received, make a note of it. At the end of 2017, you can look back at the long list of amazing things you experienced during the year.
6. DON’T BUY – DIY
It’s often cheaper to DIY some things rather than choosing store-bought products. A really great example of this is pre-made pasta or dipping sauces. Learn how to make them yourself so you can control what goes into the final product (no nasty preservatives or extra fats!) and go easy on your wallet as well.
7. DITCH THE SODA
Did you know that one can of soda has enough sugar to make six whole cups of chai? Don’t load up on empty calories by sipping on fizzy drinks. Instead, make flavor-infused water by adding some fruit into a water bottle before filling it up.
