Cocktail recipes to bring the house down this NYE

We all know you can’t count down to 2017 without a delicious cocktail in hand.

Any New Year’s Eve party would be incomplete without some festive drinks, so StyleCracker shows you how to be the hostess with the most-est, with 6 amazing cocktail recipes. Leave the mundane behind, and sip on some of these explosive drinks as you ring in the new year!

POMERGRANATE MOSCOW MULE

Everybody enjoys a good Moscow Mule, but everybody LOVES a Moscow Mule with a delicious festive twist. This one is guaranteed to be an absolute favourite not just this NYE, but every year to come.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. vodka
  • 1 oz. pomegranate juice
  • 1 tbsp. lime juice
  • 1 tsp. honey
  • ½ c. ice
  • ginger beer
  • sprig of rosemary

Directions:

In a cocktail glass stir together vodka, pomegranate juice, pomegranate seeds, tbsp. lime juice, honey, and ice. Top off with ginger beer and garnish with a sprig of fresh rosemary. Yes, it is really just that simple.

FRENCH 75

Nothing says party like champagne, and this classic champagne cocktail is a New Year’s Eve must have!

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp. brandy
  • 2 dashes simple syrup
  • 1 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
  • 2-4 oz. champagne

Directions:

Combine the brandy, syrup, and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake vigorously. Strain it into a chilled champagne glass, top up with your favourite bubbly and stir gently.

JACK FROST COCKTAIL

Not only the most festival looking, but also the most festive tasting. The Jack Frost Cocktail has been on our list forever and trust me, it did not disappoint. (This recipe serves six… or one).

Ingredients:

  • light corn syrup to rim the glasses
  • coconut flakes to for the glass rims
  • 8 cups ice (more or less depending on desired consistency)
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • ½ cup blue curacao
  • ½ cup light rum
  • ½ cup cream of coconut

Directions:

First, you’ve got to rim the glasses – pour a thin layer of corn syrup onto a plate and dip the rims into the corn syrup, then dip in coconut flakes.

Second, pull out your blender. Blend the ice, pineapple juice, blue curacao, vodka and cream of coconut until you get to your desired level of slush and the pour into glasses, serve immediately.

ESPRESSO MARTINI

A lethally delicious combination of coffee and booze – what else do you need? We promise that this one ensures a smashing New Year’s Eve.

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz. premium vodka (or tequila, if you prefer)
  • 1 oz. cold espresso
  • ½ oz. Tia Maria
  • ½ oz. Kahlúa Especial

Directions:

Pour ingredients into a shaker filled with ice and do your bartender dance. Shake and strain into a martini glass (or three shot glasses, if you prefer). This one is guaranteed to be the party starter.

NEW YORK COCKTAIL

Happiness in a glass. There’s something about this New York cocktail that just makes you feel warm and fuzzy. Oh, we love it.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. of your favourite whiskey
  • 3/4 oz. lime juice
  • 1/2 oz. simple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon grenadine syrup

Directions:

Pour everything into a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake well. Strain the mixture into a chilled glass filled with ice and garnish with an orange twist. Easy-peasy.

CHAMPAGNE PUNCH BELLINI

It only seems fitting to end this list with yet another delicious bubbly delight. This Bellini with a punch is bound to have you asking for another (or three). The perfect way to bring in the new year. Oh, and it only requires two ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • Your choice of bubbly (champagne, prosecco, sparkling wine)
  • Sorbet (any flavour you desire)

Directions:

Scoop a spoonful of sorbet into a champagne flute and top with your choice of bubbly. That is literally it!
