The most exciting thing about fashion week? Besides the excitement of what a new season brings, it’s also a front row opportunity to see how designers have reinvented their aesthetic from the last season and evolved. Day 1 at AIFW S/S 2016 was exactly that and much more. Kick-starting the schedule was one of StyleCracker favourites, Sanjay Garg – who paid tribute to Benarasi weavers with urban cuts in luxurious silks. Anavila went the easy – chic route with soft, fluid cottons and linens that would work for any age group and texture contrasts (yes for the day!). Rabani & Rakha took us on a fairy tale ride with tulle and butterflies and appliqued lace. But if you are on the hunt for the perfect prêt outfit – look no further than Vineet Bahl’s oriental-inspired separates. Kavita Bhartia worked the muted palette to the tee. But if you are in the market for some serious sexiness, then Shivan & Narresh were the answer. With a definitive dominatrix vibe, unusual colour combos and lots of skin – this collection has surely got us dreaming of sunset parties in Ibiza. StyleCracker gives you peek at the key looks from Day 1 at AIFW.
