Day 5: Amazon India Fashion Week (AIFW) S/S 2016

Here’s what went down on Day 5 at Amazon India Fashion Week (AIFW) S/S 2016.

Rahul Mishra

The French Embassy hosted Rahul Mishra’s Paris Fashion Week ss16 collection as installations. The collection spoke of intricate 3D wool work knits.

Debarun, Tanieya Khanuja

Colour-blocking with prints in dots and houndstooth were seen on the ramp.  Monochrome geometric patterns were it for Tanieya Khanuja.  Saaj by Ankita featured spring friendly cutwork linings.

Dolly J, Karthikeya, Kommal Sood

Gowns, trenches and jumpsuits featuring cut work and mesh inserts, ruffles and macro floral prints were seen on the ramp at Dolly J. Intricate handwork in the form of zardosi and aari was used gorgeously on jackets, gowns, skirts and suits for Karthikeya.  Earthy tones with feather prints and bursts of gold were spotted at Kommal Sood.

Prashant Verma

Powerful androgyny and feminine strength were pushed across the ramp in the form of edgy suits and printed maxis. Prashant Verma closed the show disguised and left the audience guessing. ‘To be, or not to be? That is the question.’

 Sidhartha Tytler

 Gorgeous Indian bridal wear graced the ramp with deep reds, lots of gold and beautiful handiwork.  Exquisite printed lehengas, shararas, Patiala suits were seen as well.

 Born in Benaras- Finale

An incredible close- 16 designers paid tribute to age old beauty of Benaras. Benarasi weaves, brocade and intricate thread work. A mix of Indian and western silhouettes was seen.

Designers showcased were: Abraham and Thakore, Alpana & Neeraj, Atsu, Anupamaa Dayal, Ashish Soni,  Arjun Saluja, Abhishek Gupta,  Gauri and Nainika, Malini Ramani, JJ Valaya,  Indian by Manish Arora, Namrata Joshipura, Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Tarun Tahiliani and Sabyasachi.
