DIY tricks for your study desk

Convert a boring clerical desk in to a fab work space. StyleCracker shows you how.
Flowers, flowers everywhere: It takes not more than five minutes and costs little but a old glass bottle with a few fresh flowers like daisies or carnations can cheer up any mundane day. Extra points for a vintage Coke bottle or a wine decanter.

Speak up: The best way to stay motivated ? Have your favourite saying or quote right in front of you. All you need is a small blackboard and some sticks of assorted coloured chalks. If you have extra time and the patience, you can even create one out of any old plank of wood and makeΒ alphabets out of different shaped buttons. Just superglue them and you are good to go.

Pencil it in: That feeling if of never having a working pen or sharpened pencil around when you need it the most is quite annoying. Solve this by using old spice jars or soup tin cans as make-shift pen holders. You can even print cute memes and paste them on the jars for a cheery look.

Memories on a string: A lot of the new spacesΒ come without that good old fashioned soft board. And to be honest what good is it to have your own desk without any pictures of your bffs and you at your crazy holiday in Goa ? Simply pin some twine or cord in a zig zag pattern across the board and clip on pictures and Polaroids with clothes drying clips or alligator clips.

Make your own Mood board: For us creative types, we look for inspiration in the smallest of places – from a forgotten postcard to a graphic tee to invitations. And there’s no point of if you’re going to store it in an dusty shoe box. Create your own soft board with bits and bobs. You don’t even need to get it nailed to the wall. It can slant against it for a cool effect.
