Easy Home Remedies For Removing Tan

Now that the harsh summer sun is finally behind us, there’s absolutely no reason for us to carry it’s mark – the sun tanned skin. Even after we’ve been completely careful and applied sunscreen almost religiously, the tropical Indian sun still manages to darken our skins and leave ugly spots. Don’t fret, we know a few (very easy) home remedies that can help you get rid of that tan in a few weeks!

Besan & Turmeric Face Pack – Mix some besan (gram flour) and turmeric powder together and add lemon juice to make a paste (must not be too thick or too runny!). Apply on face and neck for about 25 minutes before washing off with cold water. Repeat this treatment on alternate days and you will soon have a glowing, healthy skin!

Papaya & Honey Face Pack – Papaya pulp mixed with honey works as a great rejuvenation mask! It will brighten, lighten and clear your skin tone in just a couple of applications.

Tomato & Yogurt Mask – Tomato pulp is a miracle worker for removing tans, and when mixed into a paste with yogurt and applied for 20 minutes, it gives one a radiant skin.

Oatmeal and Almond Exfoliant – Grind some almonds and mix a spoonful with the same amount of oatmeal. Add some milk and a few drops of almond oil to the mix and make a scrub, keeping the consistency thick. Exfoliate twice a week with this scrub and leave on as a mask for 15 minutes. Wash off with cold water to get lighter, brighter skin.

Potato & Lemon Juice – Potato is not only a delicious food, it’s also a superb tan remover! Also, lemon juice is commonly known for lightening the skin tone. Make a face mask using the pulp of a cold potato and some lemon juice and apply for 20 minutes. Two to three times a week of this treatment is enough to make your tan and spots go off running in the other direction!

Pineapple & Honey Mask – The pulp of a pineapple and a teaspoon of honey make a great face mask to get clear skin. It’s also pretty good for removing those pesky blackheads.

Fuller’s Earth & Aloe vera Gel – Take some Fuller’s Earth (Multani Mitti) and mix together with some aloe vera gel (fresh or from a tube) to make a refreshing face pack. It will cool your skin and ease all the irritation caused by the harm sunrays. Apply moisturiser after washing the pack off if your skin feels a bit too dry (fuller’s earth absorbs all the excess oil from the pores).

These home remedies don’t take up much time and really do give results in just a couple of weeks. Try them out for yourself and tell us how they worked for you. Leave a comment below!
