Embrace your curls

We’re all about natural beauty here at the StyleCracker HQ – from dusky skin to naturally bouncy curls, it’s all so very attractive! Nothing makes us stop in the street quite like a spiral mane bouncing and gleaming in all its glory. It’s time to forgo that flat iron because we’re showing you how to embrace and love your naturally curly (wavy or frizzy) hair.

Technique over tools

Some may say spending more time and money on styling products is the key to achieving a foxy mane, but there’s much less truth to that than you’d think! It’s all about the cut – getting the right haircut for your curl type and maintaining it with regular trims is the trick to saving some dough.

Luckily for you, after years of hunting and testing, we’ve found the perfect hairstylist that understands curly hair and loves working with it. Book an appointment with Top Stylist, Petras Shreesunder at the Dessange Salon, Phoenix Mills (+9122 40128080 or +9122 40129090). He uses a technique called ‘block-cutting’ that alleviates excess volume and knows how to give you just the right amount of layers.

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

While you might just have the money to spend on high-end products (think: Moroccanoil’s covetable range), not knowing how to use to its optimum potential is just a waste of all that hard earned money. There’s a reason why your hair looks better when you walk out of a salon than when you try to replicate the same routine at home.

Two styling products (max) and a great conditioner is all the beauty arsenal you’ll ever need to get those perfect curls.

Face the facts, aka #curlygirlproblems

Let’s get real, it can be a pain not waking up looking sexy-dishevelled like our straighter counterparts do, not to mention the struggles with frizz from humidity (especially in the monsoon) and tangles. But, if you can squeeze in a little time for some TLC here and there, there’s no reason why you can’t wake up looking flawless, too!

Why don’t you:

– Sleep on a satin pillowcase or simply twist your hair up in a bandana or scarf to keep it from moving around too much while you snooze.

– Condition, but use it as intended – it weighs your hair down enough to keep your curls looking natural, but not too poufy. Plus, if you dab on a little bit once your hair is dry, it rejuvenates your ‘do.

– Rinse your hair with cold water.

– Detangle with a wide toothed comb while you condition.

– Post-wash: Squeeze excess water out with a t-shirt and not with your towel.

– Apply styling products when hair is 40% dry.

Care. Love. Embrace

It all comes down to you – love it or hate it, this is the hair your genetics gave you. Nobody can wear you down for looking different so long as you carry it with confidence.

Think of it as you very own version of ripped jeans and a studded leather jacket – it beats normcore, it never fails to turn heads, some even pass judgement at the ones wearing it but deep inside crave to be that confident to pull it off just as nonchalantly!

Go on and embrace your natural beauty – there’s nothing more attractive than a confident woman who owns her look!
