Your refrigerator of munchies is a mechanic in disguise!
Mend what you adore- they won’t get cranky if you treat them just right. While repairs/replacements can be hard on the wallet sometimes, electrical appliances serve as solutions to half. Stow away your ice cubes and place a packet to freeze. Five fashion pieces that deserve a place with your frozen food!
SMELLY LEATHER BAGS/JACKETS
Leather grains soak up sweat, smoke and the worst of foods; so a frequent clean is imperative. However, if you’re falling for the laze and end up doing the opposite, don’t run to the store. A quick freeze will kill odour-causing bacteria and eliminate bad odour!
What you need: Stinky leather bag/jacket, zip-lock bag/insulated plastic bag, a freezer with adequate space.
How to fix: Seal in your beloved (but stinky) leather bag/jacket in a plastic bag or zip-lock, to protect it from the moisture. Place the sealed packet in the freezer overnight and voila, the odour’s off!
TIGHT AND FOUL-SMELLING FOOTWEAR
Before you knew it, you’d bought them in a jiffy. And if they smell like a camel and embarrass you daily, don’t throw them away already. Simply freeze and fix!
What you need: Shoes to fix, zip-lock bag/insulated plastic bag, two freezer bags, a freezer with suitable space.
How to stretch them to fit: Fill two freezer bags with water and slip them into each shoe. Place them in the freezer, locked in a plastic bag together. Let the package freeze overnight! As the water inside the freezer bag turns to ice, it’ll gently expand your shoes.
How to eliminate the odour: Throw in the shoes in a zipper-lock plastic bag and put them in the freezer overnight. The temperature will kill most of the odour-causing bacteria!
If summer’s almost ending but you’re yet sweating rivers (but not because of the weather)- it’s probably because your shredded cardigans are giving you nightmares. Don’t sweat, just fix!
What you need: Fix-worthy sweater, plastic bag, the unhealthy food haven (a freezer).
How to fix: It’s super easy! Make a neat fold and slide it into the plastic pack. Place in the freezer before every wear!
They were perfectly distressed, so you had to pick! But even if you freeze- the dye won’t fade, so don’t worry in plenty.
What you need: Pair of denims, zip-lock/plastic bag, freezer with sufficient space.
How to fix: Place them in the plastic pack and toss into the freezer! Give it 4-5 hours and you’re good to go.
AND.. HOW TO REMOVE GUM FROM ANY FASHION PIECE
The reasons could be many but this happens to most of us! Your washing powder won’t fix it and nor will anything predictable. Once again, switch to the freezer!
What you need: The garment that’s gum-ridden, plastic bag and freezer, of course!
How to fix: The aim is to make the gum freeze! Fold the garment neatly, so that the side that has the gum stuck on is facing upwards (make sure the gum doesn’t stick to the bag). Now throw it into the freezer. Depending on the size of the gum and garment, it would take about two to three hours to freeze. Now, remove the packet out of the freezer and using a dull knife/blade, peel the gum off.
