Curly, straight or wavy, whatever the hair texture, we all have a common enemy and it goes by the name of ‘frizz’! With the monsoon season just around the corner, we explore several ways to battle it out against the mighty frizz.

Do (not) lather, rinse, repeat
The first step towards frizz-free hair starts in the shower. Your hair gets frizzy from lack of moisture – this means that it’s extra important to keep your hair hydrated, either with a lightweight hair mask or leave-in conditioner. While lather, rinse and repeat might be the directions at the back of your shampoo, it’s always wise to use a dime-sized amount only around your scalp for thorough cleansing. Over-shampooing and under conditioning is one of the common reasons for frizz. Remember to condition, two inches off the root all the way down to the tip of your hair.

When you’ve finished washing your hair, give it a final rinse with cool water, it will help to seal the cuticle and lock in the moisture.
What’s your potion?
While there are plenty products on the market, it’s important to know the best way to apply them. Smoothing serums are ideal for taming frizz, but for the best results, blend them in with another product before applying – mix your smoothing serum in with your heat protectant or leave-in conditioner and apply it as soon as you get out of the shower, when your hair is 40% dry.

Apply the product from your roots up, rather than putting a dollop straight onto the top of your head, as it can make your hair look oily.
Baby, its humid outside
If it’s raining outside, look for a scarf made of silk lining – the head-wrap will prevent your locks from frizzing up due to the humidity and it adds a nonchalant bohemian touch to any outfit!
If you’re too lazy and have some dough saved up, we reckon a salon solution is in order – ask your go-to hairdresser for a Keratin smoothing treatment.
It promises to make your locks smooth, as the heat activated keratin-infused formula helps repel humidity and you stay frizz-free for months!
