Makeup brushes are something that come in close contact with our skin everyday. Over a period of time, say a fortnight, product buildup (not to mention dust and grime!) settles deep into the bristles and might give you a rash if you continue to use it as is. Click HERE to find out what all we expose our skins to when we use dirty brushes.

It’s extremely important that makeup brushes be regularly cleaned and the product build-up properly removed, so that all the grime doesn’t get transferred to your face and cause a bad reaction or worse, a terrible breakout! Read on for two very easy methods (our personal favorites) to clean your makeup brushes.
Method 1 (this one’s super-duper easy and takes not more than 30 minutes!)
Mix one tablespoon of white vinegar in a cup of hot (closer to lukewarm) water. Soak your brushes in the mix for 20 minutes. Finally rinse with hot water followed by cold water. A thorough pat dry with a towel will do it.
Method 2 (this one will make your brush softer and lead to better application of makeup.)
Mix a few drops of antibacterial dish wash soap and some extra virgin olive oil together in a dish and dip your brushes in it. After a few minutes, gently rub the buildup of makeup out of the bristles. Run the bristles under lukewarm water holding the brush at a 45 degrees angle, so that the water doesn’t get into the metal handle (it could loosen the glue inside and cause your brush to come apart). Finally, place a folded paper towel in a cup and place your brushes in it (bristles facing downward). Pat dry and lightly fluff the now-clean-and-soft bristles.
