The cold weather is harsh on our scalp and hair, turning them dry, brittle, itchy and flaky. Our tresses lose their natural shine and start to look dull and limp. The winters call for more skin and hair care, and we’ve got some easy DIYs to keep your mane looking glossy and glamorous throughout the chilly winters!
Avocado Hair Mask – Mash the pulp of a ripened avocado and add 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil to it. Mix together to make a fine, thick paste and apply all over the head, keeping for 30 minutes to an hour before washing off with cold water.
Hot Oil Champi – Mix together 2 tablespoons of coconut oil and 1 tablespoon almond oil and heat to lukewarm temperature. Deeply massage the head with this mix for around 20 minutes and leave for an hour before rinsing off in the shower. To make sure your scalp soaks in as much as it can, you can wrap a towel soaked and then wrung out in hot water around your head. Try adding the juice of 1 lemon to the oil if you have a persistent dandruff/ itchy scalp situation.
Egg Yolk Hair Mask – To 2 egg yolks in a bowl, add 1 tablespoon honey and 1 tablespoon olive oil. Blend well and apply on scalp. Let it sit for an hour. Wash off with shampoo and conditioner as usual.
Take care of washing hair with cold to normal temperature water. Sure, it’ll be tempting to wash hair with warm/ hot water but that will just strip your hair of it’s natural oils and sheen. For smooth, shiny hair, you can also try rinsing them with either vodka or vinegar (1 cup) after you shampoo.
Finally, drink plenty of water so that you keep hydrated at all times!
