India Bridal Fashion Week Highlights
Two days into the BMW India Bridal Fashion Week 2014, happening in the capital, we bring you highlights from the runway.
Tarun Tahiliani opened the fashion week with his latest collection, “Modern Mughals”, which was as exquisite as expected. He departed from strict tradition and gave us black bridal wear, which dripped elegance and rich craftsmanship.
Gauri and Nainika’s collection, also on Day 1, was designed in the classic colors of white, black and red, with stark, straight silhouettes and sharp tailoring.
Ashima and Leena’s Fall/Winter collection, showing on Day 2, was an ode to the intricate and exquisite hand embroideries of India. The designs were soft, feminine, ultra romantic and everything a bride dreams for.
Raghvendra Rathore’s “Reincarnating Relics” brought to life the older-than-tradition dhoti for the groom, and put a fresh spin on it. His designs for contemporary brides had an indo-western touch and were inspired by masculine silhouettes yet retaining classic femininity.
