Fashion’s favourite month is upon us, with Lakme Fashion Week kicking off with a slew of surprises, here is our roundup of the best shows from day one.
Sabya’s spectacular opener: With 70’s emerging to be the trend of the year (internationally, too), Sabyasachi spun his own twist on the decade, with his men decked in floral details and sequinned, crop top baring models sashaying down the runway.
The new kids on the block:

Kanika Goyal represented a futuristic mix of prism-ic 3d prints and a posy of printed florals teamed with a new denim jumper.
Menswear designer Manish Bansal portrayed his love for playing cards with printed hints and a relaxed casual style.

Salita Nanda took us to an art exhibit with her print-perfect inspirations from Pablo Picasso, with playful panels and futuristic shapes.
Mithi: The chirpy parrot was the inspiration for designer Yogesh Chaudhary (Surendri). The collection featured a colourful palette, paying tribute to the adorable bird with parrot motifs embroidered to charm.

Frou to Paris: An abandoned Parisian apartment came to be the inspiration for Archana Rao’s collection. Staying true to her feminine aesthetics, the collection saw a slew of pastels, rosette cinched belts for men, sheer capes and sarees drenched in a pearl border – a vintage Parisian affair indeed!
Sporty Chic: Sneakers and tuxedos, a lethal combination, only expected at the masterminds of Huemn.
Masaba for instagram: Masaba took to the digital stage with her candied delights and ice-cream prints. She blew up the internet – literally!
He for she: Manish Malhotra set the stage for an inspiring show with a beautiful message on gender equality, lest we forget his glamorous silhouettes and fringed details.
Stay tuned for more highlights from day two.
