There’s something about a new year that makes you want to try out something new and different, but that doesn’t always involve spending your entire one month’s salary on shopping for an entire new wardrobe. You can buy a new top in a beautiful in-trend color, or a perfect pair of curve hugging denims, et voila! You have the basics to make 4 new chic looks for the new season.
Changing the way look might be good for you too! A new hairstyle, or just a change in the style of your accessories might be just what you need to re-invent your 2015 self!
SC has listed below the 5 ways you can re-invent your wardrobe in the new year!
Accessories – Your new best friend: 2014 gave us a ton of awesome new accessories, that are bold, edgy and can revamp your entire wardrobe without the pain of too-much-expense! “Accessorize” should be your new mantra for 2015. Try finishing your look with body chains, earcuffs and boho head chains, along with other statement pieces to stand out brilliantly.
Best from waste/ old is gold: Have old tees lying around that you don’t know what to make of? Grab a pair of scissors and try out new DIYs. Cut an old pair of jeans to make shorts and redo them with lace trims on the hem. Completely alter the way the old clothes looked – there’s nothing to lose, they were just lying in your closet as it is!
Layer it up: A bit of light layering never hurt anyone, as we like to say! Buy shrugs and cardigans in cheerful florals for the winters and you’re all set for the next couple of months. Scarves are a great way to layer too.
Outside the box: Try something new this year – something not-so-you! If your style has always been classic, in a chic lady-like way, maybe spice things up by adding a touch of change to your regular look. Mix it up a bit with edgier pieces and statement accessories so that your style doesn’t get repetitive. If you’ve always been a “black” woman, maybe try fresh pastel colors this year!
Play with that Pout: Swap your regular shade of lipstick to a new one – one that you’ve never thought of as “your color”. Red is one of the most universally wearable lipstick shades, and it’s a classic way to add both impact and femininity to your look. We hear bright orange and hot pink are good for the season too.
