SC Inside Out | 9 Indian Brands I Cannot Wait To Shop From

When was the last time you shopped a ‘non-essential’ item? My last fashion purchase was in January 2020. Yes, digest that! As we slowly creep out of the isolation slumber we have been in for the last three months, I can’t help but wonder, what are people shopping for right now?

If I had to make a list of things that I need and well, want to shop for currently, the list wouldn’t be too long; as compared to last year at this time when I thought I needed (and wanted) everything! I don’t think I would buy things ‘just because’ anymore, however, my list would include a couple of lounge-pants, comfy tees, and everyday baubles.

‘Shop local’ is the new in-thing to do at the moment, but is it really only a passing fad? Will we all go back to our old ways and start consuming international high-street fashion as recklessly as we once did? I hope not!

So, like me, if you too are looking to upgrade your wardrobe with basics and must-have pieces, check out these super-cool Indian brands, all of which are doing amazing things and are all available online.

Bhaane

I have always liked the brand, but I’ve got to say, ever since ace designer Nimish Shah joined the team as Creative Director, the brand has gotten a very fashionable yet relatable facelift.

Can’t Wait To Buy: Lounge Tank and Bridget Jones Style Knickers

Perfect For: Lounging at home!

Soli

If you love minimalistic jewellery as I do, check out Soli. Each piece is carefully handcrafted and unique.

Love and Lust: Plain Circle Ring

Insider Info: Soli, launched earlier this year and was meant to debut at the StyleCracker Borough, Spring-Summer 2020 edition in April. Unfortunately, due to Covid19, the event was cancelled. Find them on Instagram @shopatsoli.

Pause

Pause has been one of my (and my mum’s) favourite Indian brands, since its inception. International cuts, breathable fabrics and long-lasting quality make them a must-have in any wardrobe.

Desperately Need: Wide-leg Denim Trousers

Perfect For: Impromptu grocery runs.

Disguise Cosmetics

I discovered this brand at the StyleCracker Night Market in 2018 and have been a loyal patron ever since. 100% vegan, organic, and extremely affordable, I fell in love with their creamy lipsticks and Rainbow Glow Oil.

What I Want: Multipurpose Rainbow Glow Oil

P.S. I cannot wait to try out their Plum Striker 07 shade lipstick as well!

While we're all at our last few drops trying to make this precious potion last till next month, maybe discussing our favourite ways to use this beauty will make it seem like it's lasting longer? @lakshaymohindroo uses it to keep his dandruff at bay, @shivangijhaveri loves it for her dry skin and for @desiree.pereira it's especially a must have after she takes off her makeup! One of my personal favourites. Pahadi Local has the best chemical-free wellness and skincare products. Sourced from the pristine Himachal hills, their products are pure luxury.
