Styles to Take you from AM to PM

With crazy long schedules like ours, who has the time for a complete change of clothes before heading out after work? SC shows you how to effortlessly tweak your looks to take it from 9am to 9pm.

A tie-up blouse – Is an absolute must-have for your formal wardrobe. It is truly timeless, because not only does it look great at every age but also complements every body type!

9am – At work, keep it minimal and clean with a sharp sophisticated pencil skirt, a hand held bag and pumps to complement the look. Accessories are best kept fuss free with only a wrist watch and a pair of stud earrings. This season experiment with illusional and kaleidoscopic prints, polka dots and striking reds.

9pm – Slip into a pair of high waist shorts, along with the tie-up blouse to make the switch from “work” to “play”. Stick with the studs and add multiple rings and midi ring sets to nudge this look further into the perfect girls’ night-out outfit.

Printed trousers – Vintage floral is all the rage on and off runway this season and we like them best on tailored trousers. Update your wardrobe with a pair or two and read on for tips to style them from day to night

9am – Pair a staple with this trend or wear these trousers with a white or off-white shirt. Ballet flats or strappy heels and an oversize tote would work best.

9pm – We would suggest dress it down with a graphic print tee/tank and shrug on a waistcoat/vest for a movie date or drinks with your peeps. Play with long layered neck pieces or a cool fedora to nail that effortless chic look.

A shift dress – Probably the easiest piece to dress up or down in your wardrobe, a shift dress is another staple that will never see itself out of trend. Store the shirt dresses in the back of your closet and experiment with more easy and relaxed silhouettes this season.

9am – A casual fit blazer, pumps, a tote, and minimal accessories are possibly the safest yet chicest way to style the work-ready shift dresses.

9pm – Chuck the blazer and add a statement neck piece and a cuff or cocktail ring, along with the tote to make that easy yet glamorous transition from work to “paint-the-town-red” play!

A pencil skirt – A great fitted pencil skirt is definitely a key investment to your formal wardrobe. Add more structural silhouettes in fabric weaves like jacquard and twill to your wardrobe this season.

9am – The pencil skirt may also be the most economical to style; look no further than the tie-up blouse or a classic tailored shirt, accessorize it with a structured bag and peep-toes to ace the 9am look.

9pm – Swapping the shirt for a crop top and a pair of statement earrings with the skirt, are a surefire way to make head turns anywhere you go!

Hair and make-up – In that flurry of outfit changes in less than 5 minutes, and selfies that follow, after work, hair and make-up tends to take a backseat. But some hair products and a little colour are just the finishing touch you need to go from to tame to flame.

9am – This season’s most highlighted make-up trend is the luminous ‘au naturel’ look. Keep your make-up as minimal as possible with a fresh straight-out-of-the-shower base, lightly lined eyes and a lip colour closest to your natural shade. A quick blast dry for short hair or a pony tail is preferable for work.

9pm – Now is the time to let your hair loose but not without some damage control. Some volumizing products, dry shampoo, and hair spray will do the trick. As for make-up choose to go either heavy on the eyes or lips, never both. Smoky eyes with a hint of shimmer, mascara, and, a natural lip colour is a classic while berry kissed lips and winged liner is a must-try
