Tinder profile’s aren’t government forms anymore.
Post several bans on users being touted as ‘wrong gender’, your hook-up-made-easy wand has diversified for you. In a move to introduce a ‘better, great and equaled’ experience for its desperate users, the dating-app has intensified gender algorithms as part of their #AllTypesAllSwipe campaign. Details below!
What are we talking about?
As Tinder’s CEO, Sean Rad quotes, “Over a few months ago, we discovered that the transgender community on our app was experiencing harassment throughout the platform. We were furious when we heard about this.” Of course the result is an inclusion of 37 additional gender options, enabling every living being considered welcomed to using/exploring the app. If you were banned from Tinder earlier because of gender reporting, download again and enjoy an all-new Tinder.
What’s the list of genders introduced?
Here they are- Agender, Androgyne, Androgynous, Bi-gender, Female to Male, F2M, Gender Fluid, Gender Non-conforming, Gender Questioning, Gender Variant, Genderqueer, Male to Female, M2F, Neither, Neutrois, Non-binary, Other, Pangender, Trans, Trans Man, Trans Person, Trans Woman, Transfeminine, Transgender, Transgender Female, Transgender Male, Transgender Man, Transgender Person, Transgender Woman, Transmasculine, Transsexual, Transsexual Female, Transsexual Male, Transsexual Man, Transsexual Person, Transsexual Woman, Two-Spirit.
Even post the update, any gender-induced drawbacks remain?
Unfortunately, yes. The search box yet possesses only three options to choose from- men, women or both. On a side note- in countries the update has touched base already, users have faced issues of matches vanishing/app crashing and of messages not going across users.
Is the update ready for use in all countries?
Not yet, the update is available for users in the US, the UK and Canada only for now. For India, there’s only a short wait ahead!
Go, get lucky.
