Why we love: Sonam Kapoor

Because sometimes, we just need to dedicate a day of praises in honour of our reigning Indian fashion queen.

Not, too long ago, a movie named Aisha appeared on the Indian silver screen, quite reminiscent of our ‘90s favourite, Clueless.

As teenagers back then, a movie with such impeccable styling was a first for us, not to mention an actress that could pull every trend-setting look off as if she was born with it. It was then that we knew, a star was born, the first lady of fashion in India – Sonam Kapoor!

A still from the movie Aisha

She first came to our notice as Anil Kapoor’s daughter starring alongside a cuter Ranbir in Saawariya. While we may have noticed her back then, she truly captured our glance once Aisha came out and set her reputation as a trend-setting fashionista!

In the beginning of her career Sonam chose Anamika Khanna (yet one of her fav go-to-choices) for many of her appearances off-screen, but soon after Aisha, we saw her style change.

Many magazine covers and photoshoots later, Sonam is still every budding stylist’s dream as she effortlessly transforms into any look thrown her way – whether bridal or goth, diva or enchantress, she manages to pull off just about anything.

While her personal designer favourites may be fashion’s biggest players, Sonam is very often seen wearing interesting pieces from upcoming designers.

Year after year she continues to slay red carpet appearances, and we just can’t get enough of her!

With recent news of an upcoming high street brand launch by both Kapoor sisters (Rhea and Sonam) titled Rheson, we simply can’t wait for what they have in store for us.
