The American Ballet Theatre has a new principal dancer! For those of you who do not know Misty Copeland yet, buckle up. With a series of impeccable performances to add to her name, Copeland has gone on to become the first African-American ballerina to achieve this status in the company’s 75-year old history. She’s a trailblazer, a revolution in her own right and most of all, an exceptional ballerina. Fighting against odds of family issues, racism and her own personal shortcomings, Misty Copeland has emerged to be an influential name in the ballet world.
