Only two days to go for our pop up shop “All Access” to open at Melange. SC had a candid chat with the designers and we got some pretty interesting insights! Read on to find out what they think are the reigning trends, their source of inspiration… and more! Nitya Arora (Valliyan)
SC – What are the current jewelry trends that every girl should try?
Nitya – Definitely the Valliyan headgear, haathphool, mangtika, palm cuffs which are really easy to wear and style. You can wear them with Indian as well as western clothing.
SC – Any statement jewelry myths that you want to bust?
Nitya – It’s not true that petite girls can’t carry off chunky statement jewelry, nor is the so called “fact” that statement pieces can’t be worn with printed outfits.
SC – If you could choose one bollywood newbie to accessorize, who would you choose?
Nitya – Vaani Kapoor.
Payal Shah (Arancia)
SC – What’s the ideology for Arancia?
Payal – After identifying market demand for high quality products, Arancia launched a collection tastefully handcrafted, with its aim being to design sleek and lightweight products that reflect sensuality and femininity with a twist of reality through fresh, timeless concepts, so that pieces designed today are relevant and can be worn with heirlooms from twenty years ago. When I design a product, I envision the woman wearing it.
SC – One outfit you have worn that you would never wear again!

SC – A bag from your collection that works as a super versatile “day to night” accessory?

SC – How do you think one should decide whether they should investment in a certain piece of jewelry or not?
Bansri – It’s always tempting to buy jewelry and an investment piece is even more tempting. If it speaks to you in more ways than one, then I would say got for it. You open your treasure chest of accessories and see a treasured jewelry piece that makes you feel pretty and beautiful, then that investment piece was so completely worth it!
SC – Any statement jewelry myths that you want to bust?
Bansri – The myth that pearls are meant for older women! I think pearls are versatile and one can make their look sassy chic, vintage or classic and it’s not only for an older woman or your mother, even young girls and teens can wear it fashionably.
SC – 3 celebs you would love to style? Which pieces from this collection would you like to see them in?
Bansri – Malaika Arora Khan in the Headgear, Deepika Padukone in the Ear Cuff, Katrina Kaif in the Shamerah.
Citrus by Vidhi & Vartika
SC – One celebrity your brand is crushin’ on at the moment and why?
Citrus – Huma Qureshi because she is bold, young and confident and does full justice to our pieces.
SC – Statement jewelry can provide instant edge to even the plainest of outfit. what are your favourite statement pieces to have this season?
Citrus – A statement piece can turn a drab look to glam in a matter of seconds. We recommend one should definitely have a bold metallic neck piece, statement drop earrings, chunky cocktail ring, and a trendy pearl necklace, which can be teamed with literally anything and for any occasion.
Vraj:Bhoomi
SC – What is your ideology/inspiration behind this collection?
Vraj:Bhoomi – The design ideology behind Vraj:Bhoomi has been to create a confluence between the new and the old. Ajarakh is a traditional craft of hand block printing with natural dyes that we have infused to make modern silhouettes.
SC – What are the 3 must-have trends for fall’s closet?
Vraj:Bhoomi – Minimal bling, classic cuts, kurta-palazzo ensembles, shrugs and scarves for layering. Just get a pair of wingtips, and you are sorted!
