It happens to all of us – we’ll be super-stoked for some big event, an important dinner party or a friend’s wedding maybe – and just a night before, we’ll be hit by a pimple (if we’re lucky) and a whole breakout (if we’re not!). We’ve all been through this. The night previous to a much anticipated event, we mostly spend battling acne and stressing over how it’s going to ruin the perfection that was supposed to be the next day! But no more! SC has for you a few tried and tested home remedies that will zap those annoying zits overnight and we swear by them!
Honey – Honey is a miracle worker when it comes to getting rid of pesky pimples. Just apply some pure honey onto the affected area or mix honey with cinnamon powder to make a thick paste and leave on the pimple overnight. Wash off with cold water the next morning and you’ll see a definite reduction in redness and swelling.
Toothpaste – Apply some toothpaste (white one, not the gel based) on acne affected area and leave overnight. Wash face with cold water next morning to find the hardly there teeny-tiny remains of a pimple.
Garlic – Including garlic in your daily diet can give you a pimple free skin, but it also works as a great damage control agent when it comes to containing acne overnight! But take care to never apply garlic directly to skin. Mash 2 – 3 cloves of garlic and soak them in 2 tablespoon warm water for 10 minutes. Using a cotton swab, apply this diluted garlic juice onto your skin and leave it overnight.
Aspirin – It’s not just for curing headaches! Crush an aspirin into powder and mix with a few drops of water to make a paste. Apply this onto pimple and leave it for the night. You’ll wake up to a visibly lighter and smaller zit.
Baking Soda – Make a paste by mixing together freshly squeezed lemon juice and baking soda and apply it on the face for 20 minutes before going to bed. Wash off with cold water. Leaving this mix on for longer than 20 minutes will make your skin extremely dry.
SC Tip: As soon as you wake up, wash your face with cold water (yes, even on cold winter mornings!), to keep your skin smooth and clear. Also, never forget to remove makeup before going to bed. Proper cleansing, toning with astringent and application of calamine lotion should be part of your nightly skincare regime.
